Help with bulging discs: L4 S1 surgery or no?

Posted by lauradorman @lauradorman, Feb 7 3:42am

Hi there, I am a 51 yr old woman with multiple bulging discs that dont seem to be cooperating despite the thousands of dollars in PT traction and acupuncture. Has anyone who has had the disectemy have any input? I am a single parent with teen still at home. 6 weeks recovery time. Its been 8 months of hell and pain and I'm fed up but not excited about a back surgery. Any input appreciated!

I understand how you feel. I also suffer from multiple herniated discs in my neck and lower back. I need to know if disc replacement surgery is safe.

Look into Dr Patel of Patel center for regenerative medicine. Newport Beach CA. My son went to him. We still keep in touch.

TRY NOT TO HAVE SURGERY. If at all possible use traction to allow the disc to pull back from contacting the nerve.
30 years ago I experienced a disc bulging from compression that gave me extreme sciatica. Dr gave me choice and recommended traction to relieve treat sciatica. It’s worked using an inversion table. More importantly as I met others who had the same; all the surgery people clearly stood out as doing worse. And many much worse.
