I had Osteosarcoma, Rod in knee and want knee replacement
Hello Sir! I had Osteoceroma, I did chemotherapy and after that surgery. But there is a straight rod in my knee so I can't bend my leg and it's straight now. Now I want an artificial knee joint, so that I can bend my keg. So please help me with this.

Hi @nawazmuhammed, I moved your message to the Sarcoma support group to help you connect with other sarcoma patients who may have similar experiences.
It sounds like, as a result of surgery to treat osteosarcoma, a rod was placed in your leg. Have your doctors said that it is possible to have revision surgery and a total knee replacement (knee megaprosthesis)? When did you complete surgery and chemotherapy?
Hello @colleenyoung, thank you for moving my message to the Sarcoma group.
Yes, I had surgery and chemotherapy for osteosarcoma, which was completed
in 2025. A straight rod was implanted in my leg, which prevents me from
bending my knee. My doctors have told me that I am cancer-free now, and
they suggested a revision surgery with artificial knee joint replacement
(megaprosthesis) to restore mobility.
I would like to connect with others who have undergone similar revision or
megaprosthesis surgeries.
Experience with Knee Megaprosthesis after Osteosarcoma
Message:
Hello everyone,
I am reaching out to connect with others who may have gone through a
similar journey.
I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and completed surgery and chemotherapy in
2025. A straight rod was implanted in my leg, which means I cannot bend my
knee. Thankfully, my doctors have confirmed that I am now cancer-free.
Recently, they suggested a revision surgery with an artificial knee joint
(megaprosthesis) to restore mobility.
I would like to hear from others who have had this type of surgery:
How was your recovery process?
Were you able to walk normally again?
Any challenges or advice you would share before undergoing megaprosthesis
surgery?
Your experiences and guidance would mean a lot to me.
Thank you,
Nawaz
