heat or ice for relief from nerve pain 4 years post hip replacement

I am four years post hip replacement and still have nerve damage and pain. I am taking Cymbalta and gabapentin which helps some. Does anyone use heat or ice for temporary relief in a similar situation? If so, which works better, heat or ice?

I have tried both for my chronic pain from peripheral neuropathy(so they tell me). Nither one has afforded me any real relief. Wish they did.

I found elevated legs at night as well as most of day plus ice packs on spine gave me lasting relief. Also it takes my time and patience for nerve pain to subside.

Suppository (sp?) the doctor said to my wife hot then cold then hot… she has the same problems of her rear-end side and back pain. According to a websire pro user said during you daily coffee add part of xxx “collagen peptides”xxx of this. Not sure hot/cold - at not used to her.

Ice 20 min; heating pad on low-medium for 20 min: repeat if necessary… that’s my 2cents!

Husband has some relief with elevated leg in daytime using a heating pad. At night for bed gets a lot more relief using his electric blanket. Had back surgery 3 yrs ago, plus a rod in leg from broken femur.
