Just want to ask--is your blood pressure usually well controlled? Are you on the right medication (s)? And can you check the BP at home? These things can most probably keep your BP in the normal range most of the time. However, in the ER your BP was high? Did it come down before you were discharged? I'm sorry for the pressure in your head. I use my PCP as my consultant on blood pressure. When it has spiked, he'll usually change the meds around. In any case, I've found it very responsive to treatment. I do keep a daily record when I feel concerned. I suggest work closely with your primary doctor. If it is allergies, probably treating the allergies will improve things. But I certainly understand your concern.

Ashley,
That is too bad about your blood pressure being so high. The doctor at the ER doesn't sound like he knew what he was doing. I would go see your primary care doctor as soon as you can. Possibly your medications need changing. I have high blood pressure also and it is managed with several medications. However the one medication that worked the best for me was Amlodipine 5 mg. It brings your blood pressure down to a normal level right away. You might want to mention it to your doctor when you see him and see what he thinks about Amlodipine.

One thing I've found that will help bring your blood pressure down is drinking a lot of water. Our bodies need a lot of water to function properly.

Prayer also helps. Just ask God for help with your blood pressure. He made you and he can fix you! I'll say a prayer for you also.
I wish you the best.

I know how you feel. I have high blood pressure and most of the time my ARB (Diovan) controls it, however when I am in a high stress situation it goes wild.

It's a hard thing to control. If I could remove myself from a difficult situation I would. Are you on any bp med?
