Have your Endos come up with anything new for type 2, lately?

I'm wondering if it's worth going to an endo, or should I stick with my long-acting Lantus and mealtime Humalog?
How are the rest of you managing yours??

Diet and Exercise first 23 years
Oral meds next 2 years
Insulin last 3 years

If you are diabetic (any type) it sure doesn’t hurt to be established with an endocrinologist. They put “special” in the word specialist. They know the disease and know about treatments that your primary doc may not. You’ve spent a long time working on diet and exercise, oral meds and insulin. Maybe an endocrinologist has tools in the toolbox that you’re not aware of. (I have been on long acting Lantus and mealtime / correction Humalog in the past. Both worked really well for me.) At present I have a Continual Glucose Monitor / aka CGM and an insulin pump. The pump is filled with rapid acting insulin aspart (Novolog). I have basal settings for insulin delivery throughout the day and night. I can put in mealtime boluses based on carb counting. The CGM and pump are always in communication through an algorithm that I don’t understand to give me recommendations for the mealtime boluses based on the current blood glucose trend. The system uses this communication to alert me to highs and recommends correction boluses. It also alerts me to lows, puts the brakes on the insulin delivery on the pump and tells me “consider action” (aka drink some juice). It is all very extraordinary! I also maintain a fingerstick meter and when in doubt I will use that for final word confirmation on what is going on. Will you keep us posted on what you decide to do?
