Have you had reflux after Toupet Fundoplication surgery?
I had Toupet Fundoplication surgery 9/2025. Post op and beyond it worked beautifully. Suddenly at 4 months post op the reflux returned and it is severe. Has anyone else experienced this? I am trying PPI , diet restriction, head of bed raised… everything. Hoping for some replies. Waiting for an appointment. Thank you. Libby

Did you carry something very heavy recently?
Or changed your eating habits, such as increasing caffeine/alcohol or the like, before it happened?

1 Reaction@t98 I have not carried anything heavy but I did begin to increase the amount of food at meals, I had a margarita .
@lsy25 I'm sorry that you had such temporary relief after your surgery.
I've had 2 fundoplications, the first in '11 Nissen wrap then a Toupet wrap in 2017. The Nissan was done in conjunction with a GB removal (big mistake).
It sounds like you need some imaging or another EGD to check the integrity of the wrap. I hope you had a very experienced surgeon. The problem with these type of surgeries is that they naturally loosen up over time. I think that's what happening with me right now, trying to avoid taking PPI's (osteoporosis) & just use tums prn. Rarely drink ETOH, and even then I dilute it.
I would start with decreasing the amount of food you're eating at one time. Smaller portions. Do you have any triggers that seem to aggravate the reflux? I would avoid the citrus juices for awhile (like the margarita).
