Has anyone with RA had Silicone MCP joint Arthroplasty? Worth it?

Hello, I've had Rheumatoid Arthritis for 12 years and have pretty severe Ulnar Drift in both hands, my palms are bent with large knuckles and on the pain side, it comes and goes but is tolerable. Recently I saw a hand surgeon who advised I have Silicone MCP Joint Arthroplasty on all 4 MCP joints of my left hand, and a year later, all four on my right. The surgery is not an easy one pain and recovery wise, about 3-4 months, and a year more fully, and some people are left with pain from the surgery. The complicating factor is that the Silicone joints have been known to break, then it has to be redone. Only about 65% last 10 years. I'm scheduled for surgery on the 16th and feeling anxious about having this done. While I know it may help function wise, and my hands will probably get worse if I don't, I would feel better if I knew it was something that would last and I wouldn't be left with a lot of pain. Has anyone here had this surgery and how has it been for you? How long has it lasted?

Sorry you didn't get responses to this. I would also like to know if anyone has had success with this and how long it lasted, because this may be helpful for my brother.

How did your surgery go? I guess it's now been 2 months since your surgery - how is your recovery going? Hopefully, it will be something you'll be very happy with.
