Has anyone used compression boots to relieve neuropathy pain?

Posted by bryanbay @bryanbay, Jun 12, 2023

I've had peripheral neuropathy since 2018. A friend recently asked if I would consider using compression boots such as those from Normatec.

I would be interested to know if anyone has had experience with this product/technique to relieve neuropathic symptoms.

@bryanbay, I did try a shorter cheaper version of a similar product quite a few years ago but couldn't tell if it was helping so stopped using it. I now have to wear compression socks daily to control the swelling in my legs for my lymphedema diagnosis which just something else I have to contend with along with my neuropathy. It does make sense that if it helps the blood flow/circulation, it could possibly help with neuropathy but I think there are a lot of different factors at play so it's iffy as to whether it's going to work for everyone (just my non medical opinion).

Here is some information on the product including some alternatives:

What is your most bothersome symptom of neuropathy? Is it the pain?

I am trying them at my gym. I have only used them twice so far but will keep you posted if I get any relief from using them. It does feel good though.
I’m still searching for the magic bullet.

Thank you both. These compression products seem like they're aimed at younger athletic types to help them recover from hard workouts .

@marciak9, I've been wearing compression socks since 2018 when I was first diagnosed with lymphedema in my legs. They help control the swelling in my legs but I don't believe they do anything to help with my neuropathy unless constant pressure on the legs helps. I have been getting some feeling back in the bottom of my feet but I have had the numbness and some tingling once in awhile for 25+ years.

I do use the Normatec boots at the gym, but I do have a system and it helps. Sit in the Sauna for 20- 30 minutes so the blood flow gets going, than I use the compression boots for 20-30 minutes. So far I've found this really helps my neuropathy. I do this before bed and I go straight to sleep. I'd like to try it twice a day to see if that makes it even better. Oh and I sometimes put my ankle compression socks on and a warm sock but not all the time. I hope this helps

Iv already posted a comment iv got pn my symptoms are burning no pain no real numbness i recommened these boots i put them on for 2 hours a day 3x 20 min sesssions since iv done this iam getting better sleep they are not helping much during the day as my on burns as i walk but i think u should try them for night time b 4 bed check with your doc first as some are not supposed 2 use them buy the cheap ones i paid 180 dollars 3 yeaes ago now u can get a pair on line for about 80 sterling same thing the expensive ones up to 1500 are really for athletes or fitness freaks in my opinon i did not use mine for 3 years as they did not seem 2 help then i was advised by a health pro to try them at night to help circulation it works for me but again i still struggle when out n about during the day i wear sketchers air cool push on shoes the do not stop the burning but u can kick em off and on without fuss. To get the feet cold again hope this helps but do not go for expensive comp boots i paid 2 much even 3 years ago james ireland
