Has anyone tried Cissus Quadrangularis supplement?

Posted by rhondat23 @rhondat23, Aug 21, 2023

I've read that Cissus quadrangularis affects bone health in a very important way. Internet research says the plant can help prevent the degradation of bone matter in the body and stimulate bone growth. Also, it is supposed to stimulate the production of osteoblasts, which are the cells in the body responsible for growing bone. It also states this plant is commonly suggested as an herbal remedy for people who have recently broken bones as a way to speed the healing process.

Maybe it is just me but I could not find any of the 13 references mentioned in the article.

@rhondat23 I am always curious about ancient herbs and whether their reported benefits stand up to modern scientific study. It appears that in this case, there is some evidence emerging. Here is a report of a small recent study that shows it can help with bone remodelling ( healing after fracture) but it probably wasn't long enough or large enough to show the effect on Bone Mass Density, which is the key measure in determining the effect on osteoporosis.

There are some other citations at the end of the article that I didn't follow, but this looks like it is possibly promising.
As always, more research is needed, and mare info may be coming. If you follow the links in the article I cited, will you share what they have to say?

Please remember, if you decide to try it, to review any precautions, buy from a reputable source, and maybe run it by your pharmacist to make sure it won't interact with any of your other medications.

Yes, totally agree. There has to be caution with any Herbs as correctly stated other medications a person is taking for any condition. Herbs have the potential to produce many variable results. Question; How large are research studies are and the sourcing of where an herb even if it is organ is harvested. How long was the study and how many people participated
/ Hopefully Big Pharma someday will work together with scientist who research and study herbs. Everyone has different blood type and pre health issues. Your physicans if they know you are taking herbs along with medication often become concerned. A great number of doctor will not encourage or want to be responsible if different herb are taken by a patient. The are fearful of medical lawsuits.
