Anyone had symptoms of peripheral neuropathy but negative biopsy?

Has anyone been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy when their skin biopsy was negative?

@joe1998, some members discuss a negative biopsy result in this related discussion:

Neuropathy is usually revealed by a Nerve Conduction test using needles that monitior electrical signals in the area of discomfort. I have never heard of biopsy being used to determine neuropathy.

My understanding is the nerve conduction test is for large fiber neuropathy only. The nerve biopsy is sometimes used to diagnose small fiber neuropathy although not all neurologists think it’s necessary.

I should have said anyone have a negative skin biopsy for small fiber neuropathy and still have all the pain and numbness in their feet and legs.

My name is Larry and I have Nueropathy for about 14 years. I also had a nerve biopsy done soon after being diagnosed. After getting the test results the Dr said my results were not near as bad as he suspected. I have no feeling from the knees down except burning and pain. I can no longer curl my toes they just spread sideways when I try. I have found that the biopsy is not always accurate when compared to the severity of symptoms.

Skin biopsy is for small fiber neuropathy affects organs
( it checks small nerves)
EMG/nerve conduction test for peripheral neuropathy.( checks long nerves)
My EMG/ nerve conduction test was negative two months later positive.
That showed my neuropathy had moved into my hands.

Small fiber affects the heart, stomach gastroparesis , bladder and intestinal tract. Heart- irregular heartbeat bradycardia and tachycardia along with problems controlling blood pressure.
