Has anyone had or have a similar mark or symptoms with their leg
Hello
Could anyone tell me if you might know what this mark on my left leg could be, it goes from my ankle all the way up to my groin, when I do exercise or have walked for a long distance the mark darkens.
I have been to the doctors and seen physiotherapist but they are unable able to tell me what it is.
I got this mark after having three polyps removed from my upper and lower bowels and now I experience symptoms such as burning in the leg, squeezing in the hips and leg ache.
At first I thought it would be a vein issue but I saw a vascular surgeon and was told my veins are healthy.
Also the physiotherapist brought in a specialist who said my joints are healthy and could not tell me what the mark is or why I am getting such symptoms.
I have been trying stretches and yoga but they don’t have much effect.
Therefore this led me to come on here to see if anyone on here has similar a mark and symptoms or could identify what could be the cause.
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome @bishola92, I have neuropathy but haven't had any symptoms similar to what you have shared. While we wait for members who may have similar experiences to respond, I thought I would share this article that seems like it might be a possibility.

You mentioned seeing a vascular surgeon who told you the veins are healthy. I do have lymphedema in my legs and it's worse in my right leg but it's mostly swelling and no marks or discoloration. I also had my veins in the leg checked by a vascular doctor when I was diagnosed with lymphedema but they were OK and it turned out to be caused by the lymph system in the leg which required additional tests. It might help to seek help or a second opinion at a teaching hospital or major health facility like Mayo Clinic.
Is the mark darker or larger near the groin, or does it seem to be the same size and color from the groin area to the ankle?

The mark is the same size and colour from the ankle to the groin.
Also on a couple of occasions, i seem to get a flare up of the symptoms, because before i would sometimes get tingling in the leg affected but on those flare up occasions I would get tinkling in both legs, hands, arms, neck and even a little bit on my face.

1 ReactionI wonder if the polyp removal is actually related, or just coincidental. Maybe remove that from the equation and try to remember any previous vague issues in this area, even go back several years mentally.

2 ReactionsHi…I have read nerve aggravation can cause discoloration on the skin above it. The location looks like on back of leg…have you had any lower back pain? Sciatic nerve irritation runs from buttock down back of leg…causing pain and numbness in some cases.

2 ReactionsGiven the tingling in various spots not associated with your leg…your doctor (or a referral to a neurologist) may want to consider a Brain MRI…that seems to be standard practice.

Thank you everyone for the replies, unfortunately i only started to experience the symptoms described after the polyps were removed and that mark on my leg appeared after the polyps were removed. I think my next step is to see a neurologist.

2 ReactionsThere are cases where there have been adverse nervous system reactions to general anesthesia…perhaps a discussion to have with the neurologist. Best wishes
