Has anyone had abnormally high CA 15-3 level and negative scans?

A friend has had breast cancer 3 times with surgeries, chemo and radiation. Last episode about 3 years ago. Ca-15-3 started going up 4 -5 months ago and is now close to 400. She has had negative PET, Mri, Ct and bone scans. Some more than once. Second PET done yesterday. Has had some gi and back issues but nothing definitive.

Any ideas? Thank you.

@hmobley80, do you know if your friend's oncologist has ruled out other non-cancerous conditions that can increase CA 15-3 levels like include endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease and liver disease?
