Has anyone found comfortable insoles for plantar foot pain?

Posted by nammers @nammers, Aug 29 1:55pm

I have given up on finding comfortable shoes for a grandson’s wedding. Two forays into expensive shoe stores that cater to bunions and plantar fasciitis have yielded nothing that I can easily walk in. We live in Canada so sandals are out. I have a narrow foot and I think I could get a medium width and insert a thick insole if I can find one that will help. Has anyone had success with memory foam insoles or anything else?

I’ve used only one insert that helped. I got it from Walmart to go inside a running shoe. It’s by Profoot. But, I normally wear Vionic shoes almost exclusively. They have a website and are sold on Amazon and QVC. They are incredibly helpful for my foot issues. They have many options, including dress shoes.

I coached an all ages track team for 15-20 years and the ladies suffered plantar fasciitis in great numbers. I have fought it since 1994 after nasty ankle injuries. My orthopedic surgeon recommended absolutely no heels but the shortest required for an occasion and sorbothane heel inserts. I was doubtful but they kept my team on the track. Plus socks only at home. Birks with steele shanks fill my shoe racks.

My podiatrist recommended “Oofos” sandals for my planters and I wear them around the house when I am not wearing my tennis shoes with orthotics. It solved my problem. Good Luck!

They send a kit for insole impressions and you mail it back, they cover everything. You'll save about $300 going direct

I use protalus insoles and love them. I tried after discarding many others, including custom ones. Protalus were recommended to me by my physical therapist, and they support my arches as well as my heels and they come in different amounts of stiffness, so, for example, if I'm in need of more flexibility I wear one pair, and if I will be standing, or am wearing really flexible shoes, then I wear the stiffer one. They're also pretty affordable, as these things go, and seem to be lasting a while for me, even with daily use. I've had mine for about 1.5 years.

Thank you everyone who has responded to my question about insoles. I looked up every one that recommended. Not sure yet which I may try first, but it’s nice to have some fresh ideas.
