Has anyone experienced bone/joint pain?
I was diagnosed in 2023 with invasive ductal carcinoma. I had a partial mastectomy with the removal of two lymph nodes which both had isolated tumor cells. My cancer was ER+ PR + Her 2 negative.
I started out on Anastrozole and I just couldn’t take it so my oncologist put me on letrozole. I’ve done much better with it but I have started having extreme shoulder and bone/joint pain. I contacted his office and he told me to stop the Letrozole until I see him May 30. My joint/bone pain has not improved at all. Has anyone experienced this? Thank you

Anastrazole did NOT agree with me at all. Exemestane worked better, but still aches with joints and muscles. I see an acupuncturist and do pranayama and yoga to help- and they do. I’m having blood work and bone scan in the. NExt couple weeks to see how Exemestane has affected both. My cancer was similar- 7mm IDC and 4cm DCIS - lumpectomy, 15 days radiation. Lymph. Nodes clear …
Thank you for your response. At this point I’m willing to try anything. I had not thought of acupuncture but I will check on that. I’ve really tried the medications but I have no quality of life with them unless we can find something to help,
I’ve taking Letrozole for 2 months now. So far so good. Then again, for me, the symptoms usually don’t appear right away. I was on Anastrozole for a year before my fingers became so stiff that I couldn’t hold on to an object. My triglycerides jumped from 70s to 130s. I was on Exemestane after that until 8 months later when it gave me petechiea. Cholesterol was back to normal though. Now Letrozole. I felt minor bone/joint pain. It’s manageable for now. I still have 3 years to go.
I seem to experience with aches and pains with all AIs at different intensity. It goes away after 10-min walk. I’m not sure if the level of pain you experience is manageable. Maybe you need to talk to your onco for different AI, Exemestane maybe? Hope you’ll find something that works for you.🤗
Thanks for your response, I’ve been taking Letrozole for over a year and I was doing fine until all the sudden the pain, it’s so strange. I see my oncologist May 30th to discuss my options. My pain right now is not bearable. I can deal with some pain. I wish you the best and thank you again
Hello. I also am on the letrozole only for 4 days now. My Oncologist told me I was going to experience pain in the joints as well as menopause stuff. I am wondering why you are still on it after a year. I am so sorry you are going through this.
I am on Anastrazole. Started this past November. I also have joint pain. Tried acupuncture for 4 months. I didn’t see much relief.
My oncologist just started me on diphenhydramine HCl that I take at night.
I also use a tens machine (muscle stimulator) and just started back up walking 5-6 miles a day. Not sure which is helping or if it is a combination. But my hips feel better than they have in a couple months!!
I did have a fair amount of joint and bone pain especially at first.
I wanted to stay on the medicine to avoid more cancer so I went to PT. My therapist got me walking, and I found that the 30 minute mark was the magic number. If I missed it for a few days, the joint pain would return. I made it 15 years on endocrine therapy by walking my way through it.
I don’t know if it will help you or not, are you capable of walking?
I have pain but I take a tramadol once a day to help
