has anyone experienced bad anxiety for about 2 weeks straight?

I believe this may be related to my menstrual cycle, but I am not sure. On the day of my ovulation, a “Live PD” episode triggered a really bad attack, that caused intrusive thoughts. I have never had intrusive thoughts before and it has caused a lot of stress. I cannot stop researching why this would happen randomly and it is making everything worse. I am now on day 7 of my period, and I am still feeling anxious and questioning these thoughts that I have never experienced before. This is causing me to do like mental checks, and see if I still have them, causing more. This happened to me once before about 2 years ago, but the thoughts were about breaking up with my boyfriend and were not intense at all. If I remember correctly they were not as debilitating as these and did not continue after. I keep seeking reassurance and it helps for a little but then I have a thought and panic again. I just miss how good I have been doing for the past years. I want to go back.

ALSO TO ADD, THE 2 TIMES I HAVE HAD THESE INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS WAS BEFORE AND DURING MY PERIOD

I used to have a very stressful job, and even worse, a nightmarish commute.
Eventually, it got to me. I saw so many bad traffic accidents that I was sure my number was about to come up. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't concentrate, I couldn't relax.
A couple of things helped:
Mindfulness practice.
Acupuncture.
Have you tried anything like that?

@kywa, I know what you’re saying because I went through the same thing when I still menstruated … I was told that it had to do with our hormones, they change before, during and after your period, this can really affect your mood a lot. There’s no accounting for the thoughts we have when going through this, it’s hopefully temporary but if it happens all the time then a visit to the doctor would be helpful. It’s not easy being a female because we go through so much with our bodies, our hormones are constantly changing especially with pregnancy and later on menopause, somehow we seem to survive this and thank goodness it’s not permanent, we are women and we are strong, that’s why we have the ability to make babies.

To Scott RL I agree with you, mindfulness, acupuncture and meditation are very helpful and also a natural way to help people cope with stress.

Do you have a psychiatrist/psychologist and are you taking any medication for anxiety/depression? If not, it would help you. It sounds like you have PTSD/panic attacks plus anxiety that may be worsened by hormone changes monthly. I have PTSD, anxiety/depression, had panic attacks and hormone changes/birth control have triggered migraines and panic/anxiety/depression episodes.

I have seen one but it was over the phone and she rushed through the whole thing. She suggested “pure-o” ocd. But I have never felt this bad before and it all happened so suddenly, and from what I’ve read OCD doesn’t come on suddenly like that. My gyno suggested PMDD and I am trying a mini pill for that since combination pills cause headaches for me.

I have it due to ongoing long Covid.
