Harrington Rod placement as adult

Hello, I am new here, I had Harrington Rod placement as an adult when I was 28. I am now 51. My rods go from T7-L1. As far as scoliosis is concerned, I had the one you want. My T-spine did a singular curve to the right, and it was a very cut and dry procedure (no pun intended). Fast forward to today, I have such severe low back pain, and it was noticed I have a stable but moved disc in my L4-L5. Clearly nothing directly to my rods, but we all know the rigidness it leaves above and below the rod placement. Is there anyone out there that has had them placed as adults? I go to see a spine specialist 3/13, so we will see what he has to say.

I crushed L1 in a horse riding accident in 1986 when I was forty. I had rods put in, but four years later it was found that they had failed. In 1991 I had Harrington rods put in from T10 to L4. I was told to have them removed after two years. Unfortunately my surgeon had moved to the States from Canada and no other doctor would remove them. In 2015 the Harrington rods were removed and replaced with more rods and screws.

I had T11 through pelvis fused and it has been four months and I am walking bent forward. I can straighten up, but it’s not natural. Wondering if I need to give it more time has anyone else had this experience walking almost like a flatback

@aspenman I wanted to welcome you to Connect. Have you worked with a physical therapist since your spine surgery? I think a PT evaluation may be beneficial in figuring this out.
