Hair coloring while on Letrozole and Ribociclid

Posted by betsym @betsym, 4 days ago

I am on letrozole and ribociclid right now I have a scheduled an appointment to get my hair colored. I'm a little bit nervous about doing it. Does anyone have any experiences they could share with me related to this both positive or negative.

Is the color to cover gray or just an enhancement?

Oh, perhaps since it will be away from your scalp it might be okay. Maybe others can offer an opinion.
I was going to recommend a color enhancing product that I like.
L’Oreal Le Color Gloss
It’s a colored conditioner that really does impart color to hair. It comes in lots of colors and lasts about three washings.
Would not lighten your hair though.

I am also on those same two meds and I was wondering how long you have been taking? I have been anxious to talk to someone about side effects and if it's really worth continuing..I have only been taking for 4 months.the nausea and heartburn is pretty bad. Lack of energy and just not feeling like myself.i had lumpteophy in Feb of last year.5.5 months of chemo (two of those months red devil) then 15 radiation.i had stage 2,grade 1. Feel like treatment was pretty aggressive and seven more years of these drugs is hard to think about. Are you feeling any of these side effects and how far are you in the process.Thank you, I'd appreciate any insight you have..

Hi Betsy,
I don't know about any of the medications you are taking but I became allergic to my hair color after many years of using it. I then, discovered that rinsing your hair with lemon juice before you shampoo lightens it a lot! Also it is natural. I'm 78 and my hair has not turned gray yet. I'm not sure if the lemon juice had anything to do with that.
Best of luck,
PML

I was on Letrozole for only 6 months as it didn’t work on me, now on Xeloda for the past 1 1/2 years.
I have my roots redone every 3 weeks. I don’t know if this is unhealthy but as I have stage 4, with metastasis in bone and liver, I guess I have little to loose. I’m doing relatively well, with no progression and a reduction of size in metastasis in liver. All treatments have unfortunate side effects and it’s hard but I believe in keeping spirits up and my hair is part of it. I work more or less still full time , am 73, and feel I want to get out of life as much as I can. Vanity might be foolish but for me it’s part of being in life as a woman. I’d be interested to hear the medical opinion on hair dye!

Sorry to hear you are suffering on these medications. All I can say is you probably need to change medication. Either that or talk to your doctor about managing your side effects! Don't suffer in silence! I have been assured that there are many options out there and this one doesn't sound like a good combo for you! I am only on my second cycle of the ribo so my experience with it is limited. I took had a lumpectomy 1.5 years ago. I went on anatrzole and couldn't handle it then went off of it. Risk was sooo low at this point. Now diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in my bones. On meds probably for life. Got my hair done and it looks great! No side effects. Ended up using a very gentle formula! Love it! Take care of yourself and ask doc for options! Quality of life is extremely important! Best wishes!
