HAGL lesion surgery
Hi, I'm 20 years old and I got HAGL lesion surgery. Which is I tore my ligaments off of my shoulder Capsule.
I'm 4 months post op and still in a lot of pain, range of motion is limited also I have really bad pain in my forearm area and elbow area which I never had before surgery.
I'm wondering what are people journey after HAGL surgery?

I’m sorry to hear you are in pain. How did you injure your shoulder? How long ago?
What did they have you do and how did they treat you before deciding to do surgery?
Are you doing physical therapy and how are they managing your pain? Do you work with a pain management specialist? Do you use ice/heat/rest and are you wearing your arm in a sling now?
Did you do anything after surgery to worsen your symptoms?
Have you tried any nerve pain patches on your shoulder like Salonpas lidocaine patches? Have you tried Voltaren gel which helps with pain from inflammation?

Another thought is scar tissue. Have you talked with your surgeon/pain management specialist about scar tissue from surgery pressing on nerves? It is really important to to physical therapy after surgery to ensure you do not get to much scar tissue build up.
Do you have anyone to go with you to appointments to help advocate for you and listen/ask questions for you? It can be a bit overwhelming at appointments when you have such little time with doctors. You need to go prepared with a list of your questions and then make sure you ask them and get the answers you need.
