giving 2 injections of tymlos

Posted by zygote @zygote, Dec 22, 2024

I was wondering .... I'm on 70 of tymlos , ready to try 80 mcg again, but hesitant because of the effect on my heart. What if I give myself the extra 10 mcg several hours later, the total dose for the day would be 80...

I asked my doctor about this. He said I could do part of the dose 15 minutes later, as I remember. I remember a poster who split it over the day and I was surprised. Ask your doctor or the Radius pharmacist.

I had substantial gains on 70mcg. Do you really need the full 80? I did the full 80mcg maybe three times. I have no idea why a difference of just 10mcg was so severe!

The extra 10mcg later in the day would not do any harm I would think (again check with doctor) but it also might not do much šŸ™‚

you absolutely need to discuss this with your doctor not us.

Yes-please consult with your doctor but also know people come on this blog to learn of other peopleā€™s experiences on the off chance they have had similar experiences. It has been very helpful for me to compare and make my own choices. Had I simply followed my doctors ā€œill informedā€ option I would have been on Prolia as 1st med and Thank God I did my own research and did not follow that advice!! I am taking an anabolic as 1st line of defense and wt. lifting with yoga and HRT.

I thought it was fairly important to try to take one's shot at about the same time each day and that the shot was designed to give a specific, brief "pulse" of PTH (or synthetic PTH) just once a day. Whatever I was reading the day I stored that morsel of info indicated that having multiple pulses of PTH (or too much PTH in one's single daily pulse) caused bone resorption to exceed growth. I made a mental note not to split up my medicine to different times a day after I read that (but [of course] I am not a medical professional and this was just my own interpretation of something I read :-)).
