GIST mets 5 years ago: Still going well

Posted by trishdickings @trishdickings, May 15 7:37pm

I was diagnosed with GIST nearly five years ago which had metastasised and was inoperable. I am on Glivec (Imatinib 400mg/day) . I have PET scan 6 monthly with my oncologist in Newcastle, NSW . Go to the gym every day. Still going well.

That is SO encouraging! Thank you! I’m newly diagnosed and will start Gleevec next week. Fingers crossed!

I also have a history of melanoma in 1999 and breast cancer in 2013, both stage 3. I had chemotherapy and radiation treatment for breast cancer. Was written up in the British Medical Journal as the 3 cancers I had/have were all primary cancers. Today well and have just
returned from a trip to
China.
