Genicular Artery Embolization for knee inflammation
Looking for feedback from anyone who has had Genicular Artery Embolization for relief of knee pain. I would appreciate the good, bad or ugly experiences. I’m trying to decide my options apart from knee replacement for bone on bone osteoarthritis. So far only had cortisone injection that did not help. Thank you

I’ve never heard of it so I read some studies on google scholar. In my experience, for knee OA they start with cortisone then proceed to hyaluronic acid shots, then too less conservative options. Perhaps because your knee OA is bone on bone they r skipping a step. I don’t know the answer.
From the studies I’ve read, the results are excellent with a low complication rate (keep in mind the studies are done by surgeons with a great interest in this procedure so complications rate likely a little higher in the real world). When the procedure is done to delay total knee replacement, which I gather is your situation, can prolong the time to surgery from months to many years.
Before u have the procedure ask the surgeon how many of this procedure he has done in his career overall and also how many he has done this year. Ask what his personal complication rate is. Ask about the post procedure recovery.
Hope this helps ❤️
