Gatroperaosis & Dumping Syndrome w/ out large intestestines

Had large intestestines removed except for about two inches. Which hooks up two the small because of toxic megacolon caused by methadone. Taken as prescribed for AVN of both hips. I was recently diagnosed with gastroperarosis and dumping syndrome. Have terrible pain in stomach and throughout body along with chest pain. Nerve pain, nerapathy issues, food don't digestive, vitamin difency, and weightloss. Is there anyone out there i can talk to about this?

Hi TKPorter,
I've had gastroparesis since 2004, which only means that your stomach is no longer digesting the food you eat. Even water, will sit in my stomach and slosh around when I am walking. I also get severe pain across my upper abdomen which is my stomach in spasms. If I don't catch it when it first starts and take a Phenergan Suppository and lay down and let it stop the spasms, the attack ends up with diarrhea and vomiting and then goes into non-stop dry heaves. If it gets that far I have to go to the ER because the dry heaves won't stop without IV's to stop it. I'm getting real good at recognizing it before it is too late and taking that Phenergan suppository, and luckily I have gotten to where I may only have 1-2 attacks a year. Has your doctor given you this prescription. It's a lifesaver for stopping these things. I'm sure you've heard all the rest eat very small meals 5-8 a day to allow your stomach the time to digest. I'm just wondering if you have ever read up on taking an over the counter supplement called Alpha Lipoic Acid. Start out with a lower dose and work up, but I can tell you I made the mistake of buying the 350 mg. and it took me about 3 weeks to figure out what was causing terrible constipation. I finally put into search engine every supplement I am taking asking "Does Alpha Lipoic Acid cause constipation?" I was shocked to find out it is very well known for this side effect. I had been taking 100 mg. for years without issue, and it is very good for us, so what could taking 350 mg. do??? Well I found out, but it may help you to stop that diarrhea, and get some normalcy in your life.
You know we cannot eat much fiber at all, and we can't overeat without it causing pain. My worst problem is getting enough water, because with gastroparesis it sometimes feels like my stomach is rarely empty, and I feel too full to drink water. I learned to make frozen blueberry or peanut butter smoothies when I get like that and my stomach does empty and I actually feel hunger again. That, however, is the harbinger of another gastroparesis attack if I don't stop eating way before feeling full, because it will bring on another attack. Hope this helps.
