Gastroparesis with severe symptoms!
Does anyone have gastroparesis (low stomach emptying) and what are you doing to manage the problem. I was finally diagnoised with this condition this year after at least 3plus years of unexplained illness. Most of my symtoms were related to pain in the chest; deep back shoulder pain; lightheaded/dizzyness; I always felt like I was having a heart attack. But each time I went to the ER all the heart test came back fine and was told it was just acid reflux. I have been to cardiology; neuralogy; gastrology. I have had heart test; stress test;;thryrod; diabectic test; all kinds of blood test (only showed low vit D) MRI of brain; spinal tap. Finally had stomach emptying test in March - which showed 85% food still in stomach after 3 hours. I have had to switch to a no fat; low fiber diet - pretty much all liquid; soft (babyfood like) foods. If I do experiment and eat something that doesn't move through - then I end up with the deep shoulder pain; lighthed/dizziness;; numbness in the arms/fingers and over all wekness. In order to overcome this feeling - It seems to work by drinking just water /gator aid for at least a day. I just don't know if this all started by a nerve damage issue or if it is reverserble. I have done a lot of internet reading and there doesn't seem to be anything to do except eating habit changes. And no one else seems to associate the pain I have with the stomach - I never seem to have stomach pain - Only fullness; nausea; bloating/gas. I also am not diabetic. Which my understanding is a reason for this condition. If you have this condition - what are your symtoms and how are you managing? Thanks

From SIBO, does anyone out there have a good way to dissipate the awful late-night stomach gas I suffer from? No nausea & my stomach’s seemingly empty, but neither digestive teas, simethicone, nor good dose of charcoal in water really help. I’ll fall
asleep in a chair while massaging my stomach, but until the stomach entirely “empties” or is cleared, I can’t sleep. Anyone find anything out there that works?
I just found out I had gastroparesis, I'm doing so.e research of my own, I'm new to this, and I believe the date on this was 2011, Battling this bloated, gassy nausea is hard to balance, and trying to figure out what foods to eat, I also have to kinda force my self to eat the smaller portions also, I hope your well and found the right consistency, I'm exactly where you was in the beginning. If you have anything that may be of help please let me know. Thank you dear friend
I wanted to try the motility but I was put on regular, xemfaxin? And Zofran, which I have to watch taking cause I also have systemic lupus erythmatoseous, and take plaqu IL, which can cause high PvC waves in heart rate. But I also take align probiotic, and pantoprazol/ protonix 2 xs a day with senna, stool and laxatives to help
Thank you for your response. I wish you well. I’ve taken xifaxin in the past , but doc didn’t recommended it for this. Not sure why. There are so many side effects to meds. I haven’t gotten the Motegrity yet. It’s supposed to be coming from a mail order pharmacy. I’ll let you know how it works. I also have issue with PVC’s.
Thank you in clarifying and responding, please let me know how you do, although everyone's body is different with this gastroparesis
Gastroparesis definitely affects everyone differently, for sure. I wish you the best.
I had both of those tests and they came out negative. It's probably 2 of 15 tests I've had in the last year.
Geez - isn’t that just the unfortunate truth about certain gastro issues, especially around stomach motility, which itself can be triggered by any number of issues or combinations of issues, including (likely foremost) an individual’s own health & bio makeup & predisposition to whatever is lying in wait. Have you seen a ND?
What is a ND?
my daughter was dx with this and she took erythromycin 30 minutes before every meal except snack like meals and it helped tremendously. She did this for about 3 months and was able to stop the medication and has been doing well with that ever since. We unfortunately still can not find the source of her lower abdominal pain but we are still searching for answers.
