Gastroparesis and Methane SIBO Diet

Posted by christinainco @christinainco, Dec 20, 2024

I have gastroparesis and have had recurring methane SIBO. In addition, I have SLE and POTS. I often can’t drink enough liquids to not exacerbate my POTS symptoms and still take in enough food to maintain my weight because of my digestive issues. I have been trying to understand how to eat best and take in calories. The suggested foods for each do not overlap a lot. Anyone else with these issues have a suggested diet plan or foods that work for you?

I understand the dilemma that you are facing. I have had three surgeries on the upper digestive tract and also have a problem with slow-transit constipation, (which is very similar in symptoms to gastroparesis). I , understand the problem of trying to drink lots of water and the feeling of fullness that it creates and the resulting loss of appetite and full feeling that keeps me from feeling hungry.

As I have read some of the posts about gastroparesis, I noticed members have spoken of a low-residue diet. I tried it and I found it to be very helpful for me. If you are interested in trying it, here is a link to information from WebMD.
