Front hip flexor pain with use
In a 4 yr old prosthetic right hip, (I’m 64) I have pain only when using hip flexor. (In/out of car, bed, shower, up hills, putting on shoes/pants…etc. it started about 8 mo ago and has slowly gotten worse to the point of intense pain if I trip on a step or use my flexor without extreme caution. Had PT made it worse. MRI showed no issues. Getting a cortisone injection next week.
Hip doc says it’s bursitis of the front of the hip. I’m curious if it’s something else that a hip surgeon wouldn’t think to investigate.
Pam w/2 titanium hips.

An MRI/CT would image a loosening of the implant which could be causing the pain. An MRI should show fluid collection in bursa and in surrounding tendons.
I hope the cortisone helps. You might pursue a second opinion.
