Fractured tailbone

Posted by nwhiker @nwhiker, Nov 14 12:28pm

I passed out while making breakfast, hit the floor and fractured my tailbone. Luckily, I did not have any brain bleeds as I am on Eliquis. I have had six Evenity shots but have read about the long recovery time for tailbone fractures. Has anyone else had this experience?

Sorry to hear about your fall, it was must have been quite scary to have passed out.
I fractured my tail bone several years ago, I was 62 at the time. I’d say I was uncomfortable for several months, with each passing week there was improvement. I used ice in the beginning to help with any swelling, and took Tylenol when needed for pain. It healed no problem, and I’ve been fine since with no limitations to movement or anything.
Good luck,

Thank you for the information on the healing process. So now, the cardiologist is doing lots of testing. I don't know if the Evenity has set off some heart issues or not. I have some history of heart problems, but the cardiologist said it would be worse to get a broken hip.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that a donut cushion for tail bone injury really helped. I used it when sitting on any harder surface and while driving. It made sitting a lot more comfortable.
I was surprised how much it made a difference.
Highly recommend.

I am looking into ordering a donut pillow. I assume Amazon is a good resource for these pillows, there are no medical supply stores nearby. I had previously lost my balance, so having to navigate very carefully and slowly. Thanks again for sharing your experience with this issue.

I fractured my tailbone many years ago in a fall down a long staircase. Big ouch and nothing to do with osteoporosis that I now have at age 76. The donut cushion really helped me at work where I sat for 8 hours daily. It heals by itself but take it easy to minimize your discomfort.
