Fosamax and tooth extraction

Posted by northropkim @northropkim, Dec 10 7:11am

I have been on Fosamax for 4 months and need a tooth extraction. I read that I need to stop taking ot for 3 months before the extraction. Is this correct ? Can I get an inplant?

I was on Fosmax for 3 years. Had to stop 3 months before surgeon could pull molar. He put inplant in immediately after he pulled it. My endo put me on tymlos while the site was healing and I've been on it for 1.5 years... 2 more teeth pulled and implants placed during that time.

@zygote thank you! I just talked to my doctor. I have only been on it for 4 months/ 1 dose per week and she confirmed I can have an extraction and an implant. I had an implant on the other side and needed a bone graft too.
