Foreign Object found in X-Ray and CT scans

Posted by johnnyg5 @johnnyg5, 2 days ago

During an x-ray, the lab tech asked besides a back fusion, what other surgeries I had had on my lower torso. None.
There is a foreign object running along my left side. It showed in the x-ray and a CT scan.
Any thoughts on what it might be?

No idea. Were you ever in a car accident?

Not exactly sure as to what it would be I do feel the same way after just having my second mastectomy, I feel things in my breast area that weren’t there before, and I believe that they left the fake skin that they used to make a pocket for future reconstruction in side of me when they were supposed to take it out But of course it doesn’t say anything on the surgery report. They have a lawyer that I saw that has a YouTube video about foreign objects being left inside of people during surgery and that’s what he does is represents clients that have had tips of needles, rags, gauze etc. I will look up his name and get it back to you. Thankfully, it was something that was discovered instead of you continuing to live your life every day, not knowing it’s there. Which creates an opportunity for a problem to become in the end a needed solution.

@johnnyg5 Without a picture or more information it’s pretty difficult to even hazard a guess what the foreign object could be on your CT/Xray.
One idea though is to take a look at any CT/MRI or X-rays of your back, if you have them, from prior to your spinal fusion to see if there is anything evident at that time.
What does this object look like and size? Is it near your spine? Is it very radiopaque showing up as bright white like a piece of metal or is it more of a shadowy image? Does it have a recognizable shape? And…were you wearing any clothing at the time of imaging that may have had something in the lining or seam?

What prompted this new set of images? Have you had a consultation yet? The radiologist and your doctor may have the answer for you…

What did your doctor say about it?

What shape is it? Where exactly should we think it is?
I’ve seen x-rays on Facebook, and YouTube that look similar to your description.

@johnnyg5
Don’t go by what a tech says about the imaging. Look at the reports of the imaging and talk to your doctor. It sounds like something possibly in clothing or imaging techniques that may be causing an artifact.

What was the reason for the imaging? How long ago was your fusion surgery?
