For partners, prostate cancer is difficult, too, of course
I am the wife of someone diagnosed with PC. My husband and I are both so appreciating the chance to communicate with you all here on MayoConnect!
After much research (including from a great book I read), additional testing beyond the initial biopsy, and conversation here and with various doctors, our decision is made! RP on February 26 with a very skilled and caring surgeon. We feel confident we've made the right choice for our situation. And we're so relieved to have reached this point in caring for -- in hopefully "curing" -- his cancer.
I want to tell you about a terrific book focusing on the partners of men with PCa. I've found it to be very helpful (as has my husband). It goes through scenarios of several patient/partner experiences in different phases of their cancer journey.
It's entitled "Prostate Cancer: Expert Advice for Helping Your Loved One," copyright 2023, from Johns Hopkins Press. It's a wonderful and engaging read, and I highly recommend it!
Wishing you all well in the days, months and years ahead!
