Foot care for folks with idiopathic neuropathy

Does anyone out there who has been given a diagnosis of length dependent
axonal polyneuropathy have trouble doing their own foot care?
And do any of you get pedicures ?

@jalcorn, I resemble that question somewhat... I have idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy along with a set of ugly hammertoes on both feet which are the pits trying to trim the toenails myself. I haven't had a pedicure in a long time but my wife took me along with her a few years back to her favorite beauty shop that also did toenails. I'm thinking it could be in my future again 🙃.

I can definitely tell when I cut off a little more than the toenail - ouch! I would say go for it if you are asking.

Thanks John!
You are always so timely and helpful with your responses.
I was told by two foot surgeons years ago that I am not a candidate for bunion surgery, due to the location of tendons in my feet, however they’ve come a long way with treatment for bunions since then, so it might be time to revisit that.
I think the bunions do put pressure on the nerves as well as the hammertoes.

I will schedule myself for a pedicure and see how it goes.
Take good care and thanks again.
