Food for thought - rise of PSA after RP due to viral infection !

Posted by surftohealth88 @surftohealth88, 3 days ago

Stumbled on this article while doing some research about PSA post RP and thought this should be shared !

If your PSA rises slightly it could be due to viral infection and especially if you very recently had COVID.

If you are due to do your PSA check and you are recovering from a virus infection, maybe it would be prudent to wait for a week or so and than do it. Just a thought .

This begs the question, at least for me: what is the general consensus on getting a flu shot and covid vaccine, particularly if you have treatment coming up, or not. @jeffmarc What do you think? Thanks. Steve

Had my Covid shot last week and got the latest version of the Covid vaccine. Got the flu shot about three weeks ago when I had my last blood test.

Definitely think it is essential for people that have PC to get these vaccines. Not just because the PSA could be higher, but because we are at a higher risk of getting sicker.

I got my flu shot about 4 weeks ago. Some recommend for the general population to wait till the end of October
to get it. The logic: The protection will extend longer into the Spring when the flu is still around.
