Today is day 18 of my husband having a foley catheter. It has been very uncomfortable and right now he cant really sit down because of the pain when he sits. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Mirsy,
I'm so sorry that your husband is having this problem! That must be terrible for him. Something obviously is not right with the catheter and the way it has become positioned. You should try and see his doctor as soon as you can or go to the Emergency Room or Urgent Care. Have you called his doctor and let him know what is going on? That might be the best place to start. However if he's in a lot of pain then probably the Emergency Room or Urgent Care would be the first place to go. Especially since it's a weekend.
I hope things work out for your husband. Please let us know.
I'll say a prayer for your husband.

Thank you so much for your kind reply. From what I have read online it can be a fairly common problem when you have a Foley. I did buy him a little inflatable donut pillow which is helping a little. I was just wondering if someone else had the same experience and could offer a solution. I will call the Urology office tomorrow morning and ask for advice. Thanks again!
Have you tried securing the catheter to the side of his upper thigh with surgical type of tape so that you stabilize the catheter and it won't move around. You can tape it about 4-5 inches where it come our from his ureter. But call the physician to make sure that that might be the concern.
He has the catheter placed exactly as you stated. I will call the doctor and see if he can offer a suggestion. Thank you so much for trying to help him.
