Why is this support group seem focused only on prescription medication? Is that it's primary purpose?

Not only prescription, but also other modes are discussed here, as many people seek viable alternatives. Ask more questions and see where they go.

3 ReactionsI don't experience that. I have been here for two plus years and I find that there is a good balance of people going the medication route and others looking for another approach. Have you been here long enough to explore the various threads? What are you looking for here? You can always add a new question and invite people to add their experiences, research, other resources, etc.

5 ReactionsStayingalive, welcome to the osteoporosis site. There is a lot of discussion about medications, much of it against. All of us, even the ones on medication, support adjunct health aids, vitamins, minerals, exercise, massage. All of us, with both pro and con medication choices, support personal agency especially concerning each other's decisions.
We are lucky to have a very experienced resource of kind, thoughtful individuals.
There is a search index https://connect.mayoclinic.org/groups/
But I think it is easier to just ask whatever you are interested in, and we're interested in your opinions.
Hang out with us for a while.

1 ReactionThank you all for your help and encouragement. I am just pretty confused about all of the "meds, no meds, exercise, don't exercise" from my providers because of my compression fractures. Thank again. I'll hang around.

4 ReactionsI get about a half dozen sites daily on the subject. some talking about alternatives, others asking for only positive information, others regarding particular drug interactions....this is even a new one for me.
This Mayo site is helpful but another good resource is Brick House Bones on Facebook, run by Dr Lisa Moore, a PT who specialized in osteoporosis. Medications are not discussed, just exercise and other ways to try and avoid fractures.
