Floating Bowel Movements

Posted by hap8 @hap8, 3 days ago

Since I am focused on digestive issues, I have noticed that most of my bowel movements float. This could have been going on for a long time and I just never noticed it. Is it possible that some people's bowel movements mostly float and that there is no problem with malabsorption? I have plenty of energy and my weight is lower than I'd like, but not really declining any more.

When I was on Prilosec and Pepcid, the bowel movements were kinda orange-colored. Now that I am off of Prilosec, they are back to regular brown color. Did anyone else have this situation?

@hap8 I guess if this happens occasionally it could mean you have recently eaten a fatty meal - I have them occasionally too; however, it if it is something that has been happening on a regular basis perhaps you could mention it to your doctor. Here is an article that might interest you.

Hi Hap8,
From what I have learned from really getting in tune with my own body is that floating stools mean you are doing it all right, because it is high fiber content that cause the stools to float. I have "severe gastroparesis," which means undigested food sits in my stomach, sometimes for days, making it so I don't even want to drink water. My stools never float because I cannot eat high fiber foods. From what I understand you should be patting yourself on the back for a job well done.
