Feverish tissue around surgical scar.

Posted by granpam @granpam, May 1 6:35am

My hip replacement became infected and I had 5 surgeries on the same spot in a short amount of time. I have a large mass of misshaped tissue around the scar. Had no real pain, but yesterday the tissue became warm to the touch and feels like a pulled muscle. Should I get this checked out, and by whom? GP, surgeons?

Personally, I would go back to the surgeon and get it checked or the surgeon's P.A. (Physician's Assistant).

Warmth a lot of times is a sign of infection.

I'm sorry you are going through this. One hip surgery is painful enough. Praying for you.

I had a large cancer growth removed from my thigh about 3 years ago that seemed to stem from a bad dog bite I had over 10 years ago and I have experienced warmth in the tissue to one side of it. I found drinking more water is helpful to get rid of the warmth feeling. One of my Cousins kids is a nurse and I was advised by that side of the family to drink more water as that is how the tissue heals itself.
