Fever after Firmagon and Chemo?
My husband had his 4th round of Chemo (docetaxel) and then a week later for his monthly Firmagon shot (he refused Lupron) that night of his Firmagon shot he got a light fever, it reached 100.4 so right at the point of going to the ER or not, a bit later he got it a bit lower and it was night time so we went to bed, the next morning it was high 99s and then he seemed ok.
The Dr. said to go to the ER if it happens again as he might have an infection from low white blood cell count, though his blood tests have been fine so far.
Dr Google did say that Firmagon can cause a fever a bit, so maybe that was it or maybe it was a slight infection but he got over it now?
Has anyone had this happen to?

Forgive me, I don't mean to scare you with this comment, but what you're describing sounds a lot like what happened to my father...Is there any chance your husband can have his WBC count checked right away? As well as CRP and procalcitonin? Don't wait for fever to spike again, you could be too late if it's an infection. Yesterday was circled red in my father's calendar, it was the day of his 6th and final round of docitaxel, but he died from sepsis 10 days after his 2nd round. He didn't have fever (he had mild fever for one day after his 1st cycle. and the doctor said-well, if it comes back then will do smth), his WBC count was normal, only CRP and procalcitonin were extremly high. Please, have them checked. You want to be safe, not sorry (like me).
Thanks! The doctors office messaged and checked on him Monday yesterday and told him to go get his blood checked today.
We both read stuff online too and know it can go downhill quickly.
And I also meant to say sorry for your loss!
I lost my mom two weeks after my husband's diagnosis in February and my in-laws passed away last fall. It's been rough.
Thank you❤️ I really hope he'll get all clear from the blood tests. I just hope they will include CRP and procalcitonin since they are the first to go up when there is an infection present (from what i understand they start climbing within a few hours). WBC might take days to catch up with it, if at all. Best of luck.
