Feet and legs tingle and shake when standing for less than a minute

Posted by thurlibier @thurlibier, Jan 29 12:10pm

I have numbness in my feet but no pain. I can no longer stand even for a minute because my feet and legs tingle and shake. When getting up from sitting my legs and feet shake and its hard to start walking.
Any suggestions or information?

@thurlibier I have the same. It doesn’t happen every day, but find it occurs when I am bending over even slightly.

My experience with standing and not moving, even for only a matter of minutes, is similar, if not exactly the same. I don't have the tingling and shaking; what I have is a kind of lightheadedness. I find if I simply move about, the lightheadedness will go away. I had thought it might have something to do with low glucose (it often happens when I've not eaten in a while), but my neurologist tells me, rather than low glucose, it's very likely a manifestation of autonomic PN––although my "official" PN diagnosis is idiopathic axonal large fiber polyneuropathy: no pain; just poor balance and unsteadiness walking.

i have this. they say it's Diabetic Neuropathy. i'm on 1800mg of Gabapentin. but sometimes that's not enough. but also have pain. but remember that everyone is different. also see if you might have Restless Leg Syndrome. they could be combined. mine affects me anytime of the day. not just at night.

Thank you, Danny for your reply. Does the Gabapentin help with this. I do have restless legs syndrome - had it all my life,
Margaret

yes. it makes the Neuropathy more bearable. but please remember that each person will have different outcomes. my Neurologist started me out on 50mg at a time. she/he may increase it if it needs to be. another thing. don't expect miracles overnight. considering you've had it your whole life. good luck, d
