@glenc I'm sorry to hear that the proximal row carpectomy did not work for you. Mine was successful, but now, 15+ years later, it is "wearing out" and I need to consider what my next step will be.
I have a very good friend who had both wrists fused, and her advice to me was two-part:
First, find out if you are a candidate for wrist replacement. Mayo Clinic and some other major centers have several years of experience doing this and fusion is very limiting.
Second, if fusion is your only option, talk to the surgeon about the planned angle of fusion to give you the best use possible for your most critical tasks.
Is your fusion scheduled yet?

Sorry to hear your PRC failed. Can I ask you how it failed? I had PRC done Oct 2024 on my left (dominant) hand. The had surgery again in Jan 2025 on same hand for ECU tendon repair. My Dr ended up cleaning out scar tissue in my hand and put a stitch in the tendon. I have next to none ROM and terrible nerve pain and numbness as a result of the second surgery. Oh, forgot to mention he put a titanium screw in my hand. He didn't fix the ECU tendon. It is still "snapping" I am going for a second opinion but can't get in until November. Same think with my neurologist appt. Can't get in until November

Would you have a POC in the MAYO Clinic? I would be interested in talking to someone about a wrist replacement

I had a proximal row carpectomy with an excellent hand surgeon in Minnesota, and didn't feel the need to travel to Mayo. If a wrist fusion is suggested in the future, I will contact Mayo because there doesn't seem to be an expert in the Twin Cities.
If you are interested in contacting Mayo for information, you can begin here:
