Evenity and Low Blood Calcium Levels
I am in my third month on Evenity and my blood calcium levels droped to 9.1. Usually I am in the 9.4-9.8 range. Does anyone have expereince with this side effect? If so what did you do about it? Literature indicates that Evenity can lower blood calcium but then say nothing about have to manage this.

I would not be worried about the 9.1 test result. The test itself can vary and there are other factors that can influence calcium levels. You are still in the normal range so that's good. Ensure you are getting 1200 to 1500mg of calcium per day (total food + supplements). I was on Evenity and saw even more variation.
Thank you for your thoughts. Yes cal w/in normal range but below my historical trend.
Due to prior issues with high urine calcium I am limited on calcium supplimentation.= so calcium per day must be gotten mostly through food which is nearly impossible to reach over 800-900mg per day. Hopefully this will be well absorbed and do what I need it to do.
I am unable to take more than 2 servings dairy per day.
Good health to you. May we all make good progress.
Hmmm... reducing calcium intake due to high urine calcium is controversial. I too have hypercalciuria and I still ensure I get 1200-1500mg calcium per day using supplementation. If you are trying to prevent kidney stones, there are things you can do to lower urine calcium. You might want to revisit your strategy of not supplementing calcium, especially while your on Evenity.
I appreciate your comment and suggention to revist cal supplementation. Yes reducing calcium supplementation to reduce High urine cal is controversarail and there are many different causes for High urine cal. First - I have no propensity for kidney stones so that is not an issue and the kidneys work well.
1) I had super high VIt D ( 92) - which excerabeated the hypercalciuria condition. TO help, I detoxed the VIt D and now balance VIt D intake with Vit K. 2) I drank water from a water softener that used salt as a conditioner. Softened Water was all I drink - all I cooked in - all I bathed in. Drinking bottled water ( to reduce salt exposure) was a big help. This I found our accidently. If anyone drinks softened water be alert for this being a contributing factor to osteo. 3) I have vasular fragility and calcium supplementation no mater what the source can cause vasular issues - ie vein bursting in fingers and toes. I have tried many different types of calcium supplements and most cause problems. I continue to research and try different sources.
