Evenity and heart

Posted by windyshores @windyshores, Dec 25, 2023

Has anyone had a fast or irregular heart beat after Evenity? I am going to have the injection tomorrow. Recently both COVID and Paxlovid caused rapid and irregular heart beat so I am feeling vulnerable. Thanks!

I have had seven months of Evenity injections with no side effects. Before I started, I did visit my cardiologist who cleared me to take Evenity.

Yes, as I have stated in previous posts, I had increased Blood pressure and palpitations that started after the fourth dose and got worse after the fifth one. I got very scared and chose not to complete the 12 month recommendation. I had minor side effects that I could live with but I didn't want to take any chances when it came to my heart health. Everyone has to weigh the side effects with the potential gains in taking Evenity. It took almost 3 months for the palpitations to finally stop. I am healthy besides having Osteoporosis and never had any heart/Blood pressure issues. I hope all goes well for you. Make sure you are well hydrated before and after your injections.

Just read this. I had some tachycardia and possibly very brief afib last night so was nervous. But I went to the hospital endo office for the two Evenity injections because I really have no choice. I am thinking I might do just 4 months' worth anyway because those are the main bone-growing months and I have already had good gains on Tymlos.

After the injections I had heavy chest pressure, like an elephant on my chest! And felt very woozy. This has happened to me before with other injections and I suspect it is the polysorbate 20. Not a side effect, more of a "reaction" and not totally unexpected. It eased over 90 minutes, gradually lessening.

I am happy I did it. I want to do Evenity then my doc will do 20% dose Reclast and then I hope to do 2.5mg Reclast and be done with meds for awhile (I have read that 2.5mg is as effective as the full dose of 5mg and I am small). My doc is nervous about Reclast with my heart and kidney issues, but, again, there is no good choice.

I have several spinal compression fractures, half from a traumatic fall and half from osteoporosis- so I am motivated!

I had one set of Evenity injections and am still struggling with palpitations after eleven months. My body revolted against the injections. Hope that you have favorable results from Evenity. Many do and then there are others who do not. You know your body better than anyone. Let it guide you!

@sedrake51 if I had read this last night or early this morning I would have cancelled! We'll see what happens. I already had paroxysmal afib and my recent COVID affected my heart.

What did you do after Evenity>

I have already done Tymlos for two years and Reclast can have side effects like palpitations or afib, according to some studies, though more recent info would seem to say less risk according to my doc. I just want to lock in my gains!

@windyshores Hope that you fare well with no adverse reactions from the Evenity.

Windyshores,
Sorry the Evenity came with scary heart reactions. When I had my first injections, I was quite exhausted the next day. Then, I was fine. Maybe our bodies adjust. I hope yours does and that you have maximum gains.

I also visited my cardiologist before I started Evenity and I have had 5 injections without any difficulties.

@susanfalcon52 the Evenity reaction did not affect my heart at all. I want to be really clear on this. The chest pressure was not my heart!

I woke at 1am and the chest pressure was gone as were the prickly sensations in hands.

This was not a reaction to Evenity, in my opinion. It was a reaction to polysorbate20, a minor ingredient that I am sensitive to. I have NOT had any tachycardia or arrythmias. I don't want to unnecessarily scare anyone and am sorry if I was unclear.

If I do, over the next month, I will post but my recent COVID also had an effect on heart rhythms.

Did you go to another medication to stabilize any gains you made with Evenity? My Endocrinologist says I will go on Reclast after Evenity to stabilize the gains. Or, to prevent regressing to the point I was at at the beginning.
