Need help after endoscopy
I had an endoscopy 2 weeks a and was dilated and scar tissue removed.
Since that time, I am struggling with pain when I swallow and can't eat solid foods. I've mainly been drinking liquids or liquified solid food, like mashed potatoes. Doctor put me on 40 mg of steroids and prilosec. For 10 days, I would regurgitate anything that I swallowed. I'm very scared and not getting answers as to why this happened.
I suffer from Lupus and wonder if it's just excessive inflammation or there is something else going on. I've had a esophagram with contrast and it didn't show a perforation.

i've had quite a few in my lifetime. and i honestly don't remember having pain afterwards. BUT, i didn't have scar tissue removed. so maybe it might have something to do with that. 2 weeks isn't that long ago. i don't know how big the scar tissue was 🤷♂️.

1 ReactionI have has at least a dozen endoscopies since 2000 when I has my first liver transplant. I never had the issues like you. In my case they were looking for swollen blood vessels in my stomach and esophagus becomes of back pressure from the liver damage. Then after my 1st transplant, they would check me every year. Then I had another transplant in 2017 and the testing continued but I only has 2 endoscopies. Still no excessive continued pain or vomiting. By the way, they told me I have enlarged blood vessels and they moved up into my esophagus. The reason for so many tests over the years is I almost bled to death in the summer of 2000 from ruptured stomach blood vessals a few months before I had the transplant.

3 Reactionsomg, I'm so sorry for all you've been dealing with. I guess compared to you, I should be happy I just can't swallow solid food. I saw the Gastro today and he's concerned as to what's causing this problem so he scheduled me for another endoscopy tomorrow morning to see if he can find answers. I'm pretty scared to do this again since I'm still in pain but feel I have no choice.
