Endo journey

Roya's story is one that many women will recognise. She lived for years with endometriosis, carrying a kind of pain that others often brushed off as “just bad periods”. The frustration of not being believed — of sitting in waiting rooms, repeating her symptoms, and being told it was nothing unusual — left her exhausted long before she had answers.
The condition shaped more than her health. On some mornings, the bloating was so intense that her reflection felt like a stranger’s. Clothes didn’t fit, plans felt uncertain, and her body often seemed to be working against her. She wasn’t alone, but at times it felt that way. Endometriosis is invisible; the pain doesn’t show on the outside, and that invisibility can feel incredibly isolating.
There was always a sense of anxiety, too. Flare-ups could arrive without warning, making even simple decisions — going out with friends, taking on work projects, booking a holiday — feel like risks. Nothing about daily life felt steady when her body was unpredictable.
At its deepest, endometriosis carried with it moments of grief. Not just the fear of how it might affect fertility, but the quiet loss of the “normal life” she thought she would have — a life without constant pain, without the need to explain or justify her struggles to others.
And yet, alongside all of this, there was also resilience. Living with endometriosis demanded strength, even on the days when it felt impossible to find it. It made her more empathetic, more open to other women’s stories, more determined to speak honestly about health that too often goes unspoken.
Her journey is not just one of illness, but of endurance — of learning to live with frustration, loneliness, uncertainty, and loss, while also discovering a deep well of strength. In sharing it, i hope to gain better understanding of it.
she has also dedicated herself on building the largest community of endo sisters.
