Elimination Diet
Hello: I posted previously about chronic issues with vomiting on the tennis court, primarily in the afternoon. I received a recommendation to see a Functional Medicine doctor. I did so and he recommended an Elimination Diet for 3 weeks. As a result, I have now eliminated coffee as well any other product containing caffeine, dairy, gluten, peanuts, eggs, chocolate, sugar and beef. Today is day 4 and it has been very difficult. I am curious if anyone else has tried an Elimination Diet and could provide some insight. Thank you.

I agree , elimination diets are very hard to do 🙁
And i found it still confusing after doing them as so many variables as i would be fine for a period of time and then not again without knowing the reason . It can be food reactions from previous days and not the day of symptoms for example .
For me eggs and coffee on any one day seemed a trigger . ( i soo enjoyed at least one coffee per day ) and now am trialling dark roast decaf coffee as it has different acids- so far so good. 🙏
Have worked on getting my gut flora more healthy naturally with natural things like lots of vegetables , aloe vera juice, slippery elm and home made kombucha and these seem work best for me and my IBS .
Havr you found anything specific that seems to be helping as yet ? 🙌
I did an elimination diet 20 years ago and had trouble getting on some foods as I tried them one at a time. This included foods that gave me no trouble before the elimination diet. Over time I got back on soy and citrus. I still can't have dairy, gluten or nuts. I developed issues with salmon, avocado (allergy test positive) and chocolate. My diet seems normal to me except when I eat with others!
Thank you for the reply. Short answer is no, I haven’t found anything that helps. My guess is that coffee is the issue but I cannot be sure. I think finding the answer will be tough since my issues have been very sporadic. On some days I have no issues on the court but on other days, I will vomit after about 30 minutes. Sometimes I have warning but on other occasions I do not. I will continue with the process and see what happens. Thanks very much.
Thank you for the reply. This is very interesting. At least you were able to find something that works for you. I hope I will be able to say the same in a few weeks.
Is it just when playing sport you have the issue ?
Yes, only while playing tennis in the afternoon or evening.
Gee , i feel for you .
I knew a colleague who would project vomit at different times for no apparent reason, However, she did not find out what caused it and it did go away in time.
All the very best to you 💕
