Elevated parathyroid hormone (PTH): How is it treated?

Posted by ladybugmg @ladybugmg, Sep 27, 2018

After I had a nonfasting blood test yesterday my doctor tells me that I have elevated PTH. Is anyone else dealing with PTH and if so would appreciate learning about their experience and how it was treated or is untreatable. Thank you for sharing.

@vanella your symptoms can be the result of so many things!

I am wondering if you could have, Thyroid gland problems too. I had an elevated TSH level, on my last bloodwork and I have the same issues as you.

I have had elevated PTH since 2022 that I know of. My endocrinologist checks it every 6 months. My calcium is normal too. Doc can order 24 urine test to see if calcium leaching from bones I think. I have no symptoms. Some people need a parathyroid gland or glands removed. It isnt related to the thyroid I dont think.
