I still have pain 1.5 years out. Not as bad as before the surgery, however.

I had total hip replacement five months ago. I went through pt for 13 sessions. It seemed to help at first, but then the pain got worse. It is so bad now that I am walking with a cane again. I feel like I am going backwards in my progress. It hurts so bad to walk. I know it takes the nerves a long time to heal. I get jabbing pains from the nerves. The hip hurts, especially when I bend over. I saw my surgeon a second time. He took x-rays and said everything looked good. Then he suggested I see a back surgeon in his office. I saw the back surgeon, and he wanted to do an MRI. I don't have any pain in my back. I declined the MRI. The problem lies with my hip. I am in pain management, but they don't prescribe enough to relieve the pain (i.e. crackdown on meds that actually HELP). Anyway, I find myself laying down a lot. I do what needs to be done, then crash. I am widowed, so taking care of things on my own. I have 4 cats who require a lot of care. I'm just wondering how long will it take for my hip to heal so I can get my life back. I'm so tired of the pain.

I had fought for eight months it was definitely my Hip causing my leg and glut pain. I have just in the last week come to be able to say that it can be my back.
I traveled to Mayo in Rochester in early August for a consultation and found I have spinal stenosis all of which can definitely play a part in my symptoms. I am going to have stenosis surgery in lumbar 3-S1 next summer at Mayo.

Have you seen another hip surgeon?
You shouldn’t have pain from hip replacement after all this time

Did this pain just start or have you had continuous pain since the surgery ? Have you been back to see the surgeon about this ? My hip replacement was 7 months ago. Up until about 6 months, i had some lingering pain in my thigh.

I tried, but they won't see me. Say I should go back to my surgeon. Ugh.

I've been back to my surgeon once. He did an x-ray and said everything looked fine. But it's not fine. I'm trying to find another surgeon who will see me. I left word with a different group, but haven't heard anything back.

Couldn't make up my mind whether to see someone new or not. I decided to do what they suggested a couple months ago. I'm going to see their back surgeon and get an MRI. I asked if an MRI would show the hip. I was told maybe a little of the top. I decided to go this route and see what happens. I have another clinic in mind if I'm not satisfied with the results and recommendations of the back surgeon. Don't want another surgery!

Yes.
But, I have a chronic tick bite infection and joints are often the most hit areas. My right hip replacement with a recurring relapse with lyme is now painful. I will get an ex ray to determine status. Keep on top of everything after 65! It’s all downhill and it’s a monumental surprise to me how quickly deterioration sets in.
