What is the effect of Stress on cancer and treatment?
Please, I have stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer and being treated with lupron and abiteraterone. My question is focused on the effects of stress on promoting or retarding cancer growth and the impact of stress on the efficacy of my drugs of treatment? Thank you.

Abiraterone puts a lot of stress on your heart. Adding stress to that is not good for your health, But for the cancer, it’s questionable
See your doctor about getting some treatment for stress. Many people in this forum have taken mood altering drugs to reduce their stress. After a few years treatment (most Prostate cancer patients have a normal life span) that stress is greatly reduced..
I know for the first few years. I had a lot of stress thinking about how long I had to live with this disease. I was still able to go 3 1/2 years after my prostatectomy without any drugs before my PSA started rising, and I have BRCA2 so it was inevitable.
Thank you, helpful. Appreciate your reply
@anonmike, I want to say "don't stress about stress". Ah, I wish it were that easy. We know that stress is not good for our health. Then we worry that we're stressing about stressing and making matters worse. What a vicious cycle.
The education team at Mayo Clinic developed this free online course for cancer patients to help manage stress. Maybe you'll find it helpful.

How are you doing today?
That sounds great, but "The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."
Could someone else check please. Maybe it's blocked at work...
@peterj116, I was having issues with the link originally too, but it works for me now. You're in Australia, right? Can you please try again?
New Zealand.
Still not working.
Maybe work's blocked it. Obviously we're not allowed to have access to help with stress...
I've tried Chrome & Edge.
I'll try Firefox at home tonight. Thanks.
Thank you to all who replied. I did try the link and it works for me in Vermont. I've had a good report today from my oncologist that my cancer is stable and under good control. I will look at the link.
