Dry sore throat after starting hormone/EBRT?
Hello all. I am a couple weeks into my Eligard/Bicalutamide and 4 radiation sessions of 28 in the books. Last week, before my first radiation session I had a sore throat that lasted a couple days. Subsided for a day. And now it’s back. Almost feels like my mouth/throat is more dry and contributing to a sore throat. Partial mouth breather at night when nose is plugged. Anyone else experience this? Is this another known side effect of hormone treatment? Next consult with doc is not until Thursday at which time I will ask him.
Thanks all.

I did a six month course of Eligard and five rounds of SBRT earlier this year. I did experience period of dryness in my throat and mouth. I had been advised this might be a side effect of this treatment plan, but it was not limited to one treatment or the other. I was also advised to increase my water intake, which is good advice in general. I also added Pedialyte or Liquid IV to my water if I felt dehydrated, especially since it was a warmer spring for me.
Good luck on your journey. You got this, warrior.
I got this during and after 28 x IMRT. It never amounted to much. It's strange but being an ex-smoker, I found it difficult to clear my throat sometime when that would have been easy as a smoker.
Good luck on your EBRT. I remember when Day 3 wasn't good and Day 4 was the beginning of a smooth process. A friend who is into this kind of thing encouraged me to journal during the process. I did and I found it quite helpful. Maybe someday I will publish it here.
Hang in there!
