Are you experiencing dry orgasm after prostate cancer treatments?
For me this is a very embarassing question and subject. I think MCC is a great place to ask.
I have seen some past post but don't remember much about the discussion. I had 30 rounds of proton radiation and no ADT. It will be 1 year since my last treatment in July 2024.
I am not sexually active (intercourse wise due to back and medical problems with both spouse and I). My spouse and I enjoy each other with manual arousal love making.
I noticed orgasms are dry with little or no liquid. I plan to discuss with my R/O in July but would like to see if this is something that has happen with others who did not have RP. I am not sure if I should be concerned about it or that is a common issue after radiation.
Bear with me was not easy to ask. I have found MCC a place where I can ask embarassing (at least for me) questions where I would never do so in person or in a in-person group.

I had dry orgasms, too, when I stopped Orgovyx but now that it's almost a year later, I ejaculate a lot of clear pre-cum which feels good. Unfortunately, I only have orgasms about half the time now when I used to have them 90% of the time. I also need 20 mg Viagra when I needed nothing before. Orgasms were pretty weak but I did pelvic floor physical therapy and that greatly improved their quality.
As for how to get to acceptance, I'm still not there. Some days I'm OK, others I'm angry or sad. That's just how it is, I assume. I guess over time I'l get used to it since it seems people can get used to just about anything.
@brian5837
I was the original poster on this all the way back to April of 2024.
I too was shocked when it happened. I did not remember any discussion of it. So I posted the original post back in April of 2024. I found like you that is common. Then I went to my R/O and found out the same. Problem was this was not told to me to expect it and if they did I did not remember it.
The seminal vessels come through the prostate and thus are going to be radiated. Mosts R/Os will also do margins which would impact seminal vessels just outside of prostate. Don't know if that happened to you just passing on what my R/O told me.
I have not felt comfortable with the dry orgasms. To me I can feel the pressure to ejaculate but is blocked. I can orgasm but cannot ejaculate. The feeling I get with the blockage is not good or comfortable. It has affected my desire for sex and orgasms. I have talked ot my wife about this just to let her know.
You did not mentioned your age. I am 78. I was 76 when I got radiation treatments. Thus I was not overally active at my age and my and my wifes medical problems. But for me was a real shock and disapointment that this happened.
I wish I could be more positive in my post to you but for me this was a side affect that stayed and has not improved as the other side affects did over time. I am glad my PSA test show my radiation (I had 30 rounds of proton) has worked but for me this one side affect was probably the worse of all and was never mentioned or if it was not emphasized.
It too take cialis. It is not for ED but to help relax prostate, bladder, etc. so I do not have the increased urniation and urgency that occured around 2 year post radiation.
Hopefully others will have a more positive post for you. I do know we on MCC are suppose to be a inspiration to others but on this one I suffered this, found it was common, and still don't like the feelling.
I'm a month off of Orgovyx, 5 months since 20 weeks of Proton radiation ended, and started daily Cialis about 5 days ago . I thought I would test things out even though my doc said it would take 3-6 months before T recovery. (Cialis seemed to already be generating some new responsiveness.) That's when I experienced no orgasm reached when I felt like I would. And that's what sent me to here and elsewhere where I read, in effect, that dry orgasms are the norm, so to speak, post radiation. And also that several comments suggest that's no big deal.
Well it feels like a huge deal for me especially because it would be totally unexpected. I was never told of this. So it's a shock. I went back over all the consent forms and the pretreatment info and they cover just about every unfortunate outcome but not this. The closest I could find was a reference to sterility (but to my mind that's different).
There was no cancer in my seminal vessels per the MRI and thankfully no metastasis. So the margins should have been small.
Questions: 1) Is there no hope of restored orgasms as things continue to heal and the Orgovyx effects dissipate?
2) For those here who have reconciled themselves to dry orgasms, I get that it's better than the cancerous alternative, but how did you get to acceptance? I'm a long way from that and it's very troubling.
Many thanks all.
Actually that procedure plus the use of a med called pro scar causes backward ejaculation into your bladder and of course you know where it goes from there, right?
During a prostatectomy, the prostate gland and seminal vesicles are typically removed, leading to a change in semen production and ejaculation. After the surgery, the seminal vesicles are no longer present, meaning the fluid they contribute to semen is not produced. While sperm can still be produced, they are reabsorbed into the body and no longer contribute to ejaculation.
As a Costco member, I pay a similar price at Costco. Interestingly, the 90 day amount is only about $5 more and since I was paying cash and it's not a controlled drug like a pain killer, the Costco clerk changed my prescription from 30 to 90 (now every 3 months) to save me some money when I asked about it. Before switching to Costco, I got 90 tablets at Smith's grocery/pharmacy for about $20 with a Goodrx free coupon. Ditto for Viagra when I checked. Of course, I'm talking generic and not name brand with both.
Yes you will have dry orgasm but it can still be very pleasurable. Will eventually get used to it.
Thanks Jake. I'm pretty confident but I will seek another opinion. I appreciate you and others who voice their opinions. God's blessings.

Are you going to a doctor or a clairvoyant? I suppose there is a small chance the doctor could be right although I‘d ask how s/he came to that conclusion. Were you given a diagnosis that you could research and verify that what he said may or may not be true? I probably would have asked if it could be old blood causing the problem which isn't unheard of by a long shot. Seamen comes in a considerable variety of colors and I have my doubts any of them last for the rest of anyone's life.
I’ve had too many doctors who think they are both physicians and clairvoyants.
When they tell me “for the rest of your life” I find another doctor. I've had a doctor say this or that happened at birth during delivery. I asked him “were you there?” Another doctor said “you’ll have seizures until the day you die.”WRONG AGAIN. My parents being called to my hospital bedside numerous times because the doctors called them and said I wasn't going to make it through the night,
WRONG x 3. Contrary to how it may sound I don't dislike doctors. I should rephrase that. I dislike bad doctors and doctors who think they know it all and ones who are confused about whether they are physicians or clairvoyants and doctors who don't care about their patients.
Just my two cents.
Take care,
Jake
I have ejaculated fluid which is brownish in color , Urology Doc said I will have off and on the rest of my life.
