Drop in PSA level
I had PSA test 6 months ago result 3.2, 3 months ago result 4.3.
I just had another and being told it’s 0.4.
This doesn’t sound right.
Does anyone know if this is possible.

did you take Antibiotics/supplements/BPH drugs? If so that could explain some of the drop. I would get another PSA test. That doesn't sound right to me either.
That’s what i thought,another test booked.
No I haven’t taken anything.
Thanks
Just about anything like that is possible. You should get another PSA test from a different lab just to verify it has gone down so much.
I assume you are retesting right away?
No, it doesn't sound right but it's definitely "possible", Depends if something else was going on, certain excercises, sexual activity, mild infection (UTI) combinations of the aforementioned. Not knowing any clinical history makes it a little difficult to even guess.
Those numbers might not be that high anyway, again, depends on a lot of factors.
This is just the way my brain works but, is going to a different lab that might use a slightly different process a great idea? If there's a slight deviation that might be attributed to the lab.
I'd go back to the original lab so that I'd be comparing apples to apples. I've always thought the trend was more important than the actual number. If it's up around 3 or 4, I'd discard the outlier as a mistake and test again in 3 mos. (In consultation with the doc of courrse) If it's very low, I'd assume something esle was going on that had raised the PSA for some reason. (...and still test in 3 mos to be sure as well. See a trend here?)
Meanwhile, assuming this blood test was with a GP, you might want to get a consult with a urologist (if you're not there already). If the next test shows >3 or 4 it might be time for at least a good DRE and maybe even an MRI just to get started....
Hopefully it's nice and low!
Best of Luck to you!
I was advised to test at the same lab for comparable results. If you have reason to switch labs, fine. But consistency is important.
Best wishes.
As someone who has spent a lot of time the past three decades on an exercise bike and who has been monitoring my PSA for almost the past decade, I can personally confirm that staying off the bike for a week before the test would bring my single digit PSA down by a point or more.
