Double Vision & Spinal Stenosis

Posted by dablues @dablues, Dec 22, 2019

I have spinal stenosis, and now double vision, and can't get anyone to help me. Neurologist took MRI and neck showed narrowing of cord, also I developed double vision. Eye dr says tale to Neuro and Neuro nurse said go to ER. So that isn't any help. I don't know what to do. Not seeing Neuro dr. again until the 14th of January for an EMG. Then can't see dr. until the 29th of January. I can't stand it and don't know what to do at this point. Asked the nurse to see if I could get therapy on my neck if that could be the problem but no answer so far.

Robin @rbcookson This may be the post you asked about about "convergence insufficiency" or double vision related to a cervical spine problem. Are you experiencing this? Did you have a spine injury?

You can ask that Dr. Fogelson reviews your application and your records when you talk to the intake coordinator. He does like the challenge of complex cases. He may send it to another surgeon with expertise in the specific issues.

Did the billing department did say they will accept your insurance at the Rochester Campus for sure? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Good luck!
Jennifer

I have imaging appointment at Mayo on June 27 and with Neeraj Kumamoto, MD and with Patrick Flanigan, MD on the 28th. I am so excited and appreciate your putting in a word for me with Dr. Flanigan. Would dearly love to chat with you privately. Is that possible? Thank you so much for all of your support! Robin

I have had double vision for about 10 years. A few weeks ago I went to a ophthalmologist. He spent a long time and produced an Rx for glasses with a prism added. He said prisms' work better if you have double vision all the time. It took 10 years to find an answer. I have brain damage too that adds to the problem, and cataracts.

I have double vision also. I've had prisms in my glasses for a few years. Was able to stop wearing glasses after cataract surgery, but eventually the double vision returned. My new optometrist did a better job of getting the right prism. Now I'm having to get used to them and having progressive lenses.

I am also trying to adjust to prism glasses with progressive lenses, and they make my dizziness worse!

Thank you! I will email you privately when I am home. Right now visiting a friend. Yes, I am very interested in hotel info. I have a Marriott cc, but am particularly interested in the Neuro house (not sure that is the name of it.) Have a blessed day!

Also, we made reservations at Courtyard in hopes of it being nicer. Do you know much about it?

@rbcookson I have not stayed at the Courtyard, but one of the other mentors likes to stay there because it is very close to the Gonda Building in walking distance. The Concierge could give you more information. I usually stay at Candlewood Suites which has lower rates because it's a little farther away but close in town. We drive there so that doesn't matter. I always get a room with a full kitchen.
